Dip Machine Operator
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Night Crew Sunday – Saturday 7:00 pm-7:00 am (3 days 1 week /4 days the next)
Come join our Colonial Heights, VA facility where we manufacture Trojan condoms and Scent Booster in-wash additives.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Dip Operator will maximize the output of whatever machines the Operator is assigned. Will improve the operation whenever possible and achieve established production requirements with a focus on safety, quality and efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions):
- *Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, Lean manufacturing practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Maintain entire process within specifications as set and required by management, and immediately report deviations of specifications to supervisor.
- Identify and solve technical and process-related problems with a minimal amount of supervision.
- Make a complete inspection of dipping machine hourly and bi-hourly and adjust as necessary.
- Check take-off for obstruction, dip tanks for proper level, rinse tank for plugged nozzles, check for missing molds or hardware, dip tanks for skim or plugged agitator, roll-up for proper bead, or any build-up of latex. Also make sure belts are turning properly.
- Maintain weights, lengths, and ring gauges to specifications through hourly inspections.
- Perform water leak/cosmetic inspections hourly.
- Perform dip Tank cleaning as required.
- Perform mold changes as required to meet production requirements.
- Keep complete, legible daily log sheets.
- Keep required down-time records accurately and current.
- Collect product in a sequential order and identify product with lot number, count, weight, time and size.
- Check slurry hourly to verify slurry is being applied to each wash load.
- Load and unload condoms from the washer and dryers.
- Pack condoms into WIP boxes and identify the pallets.
- Make a slurry batch when required.
- Sanitize the slurry tanks when required.
- Perform preventative maintenance duties as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area. Must comply with all safety procedures related to job assignments.
- Assist in training new personnel.
- Understand how to use information provided by QC to maintain or improve quality.
- Report all accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately to the Supervisor.
- Report all equipment malfunctions immediately to the Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Work overtime as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
At least one years’ experience related to this position in high-speed manufacturing such as in the pharmaceutical, consumer products, food and/or medical device industry.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to read and understand English; Able to properly Fill out required forms in English; complete and understand “read & sign” training in English.
- Basic Arithmetic skills in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Organizational, communication, and computer skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to use electrical and/or hand trucks, tools and all equipment safely.
- Mechanical aptitude and understand machinery operation.
- Work with minimal or no supervision.
- Complete required reports correctly.
- Must demonstrate good insight and ability to develop mutual solutions to challenges.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work from a sitting and/or standing position for long periods of time.
- Must possess the ability to work with moving machinery.
- Must possess the ability to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
- Must possess strength to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Must be comfortable in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic dust.
- Must be able to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
- Must be able to climb ladders and cross-over ladders when required.
