ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

•    Quality Assurance Technician 1 – 3rd Shift
•    Monday-Friday 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
•    The hourly range for this position is $33.21
•    New Hire Sign-on Bonus - $0

ROLE SUMMARY:
This position has overall responsibility for all facets of quality in a lean manufacturing and distribution environment.  Support the packaging lines to ensure plant quality requirements are met while achieving maximum safety and line efficiency with minimal downtime.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions):
•    Responsible to always promote a safety culture and awareness within the plant and responsible for having a clear understanding and adhering to all corporate and plant quality procedures, methodology, and terminology as they apply to production.
•    Maintain adherence to C & D Control Plan including quality checks for testing frequency, sampling plan and product compliance.   Execution of Quality Control Methods for line inspection & batch testing.  Liquid changeover compliance and line startups.
•    Participation in quality control and quality audits for packaging lines.
•    Adherence and execution of quality procedures that include handling customer complaints and control of non-conformances (out of specification material and/or product).
•    Using lab equipment, perform basic chemical testing such as viscosity, specific gravity, pH measurement, solids, color/odor check, etc.
•    Learn and utilize basic statistical quality/process control application.
•    Responsible for collection of quality inspection records from packaging lines and maintaining records files.
•    Evaluate quality data and plant process capabilities.  Suggest opportunities for continuous improvement and areas for specification change where applicable.
•    Incorporate principles of lean manufacturing such as 5S, key TPS elements, etc.
•    Daily data input in computer as department requires for both lab-data and quality data.  
•    Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.
•    Support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures always.
•    Adhere to safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•    Associate’s degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•    Minimum 2 years industry experience working as a quality inspector or technician in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably in consumer-packaged goods.
•    Strong computer skills (SAP, WMS, Agile, Minitab, and MS Office Suite).
•    In-depth knowledge of production operation, including equipment, materials, workflow, etc.
•    In-depth knowledge of laboratory operation, including sample collection, use of laboratory equipment and instruments, safe handling of chemicals, etc.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
•    Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media such as verbal, written, etc.
•    Excellent organizational/time management skills with attention to detail.
•    Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced, dynamic, production driven work environment.
•    Solid critical thinking skills and ability to create new, innovative ways to handle situations.
•    Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and computer literacy.
•    Strong computer skills (SAP, WMS, Agile, Minitab, and MS Office Suite).
•    Strong knowledge of production operation, including equipment, materials, workflow, etc.
•    Must be able to read & understand materials & products specifications in English. Upon training, must be able to work with measuring equipment such as calipers, gauges etc.
•    Ability to take and follow directions.
•    Flexibility to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

    Lifting Floor to Waist to Shoulder - Cases of various product up to chest level, dumping cases of empty bottles into hopper for line, moving and lifting pallets
    Lift and Carry- case of empty bottles, case of product (2- 300 oz. bottle of soap), broom, mop
    Stepping/Climbing - up and down stairs over line
    Pulling bundles 5 to 10 feet up to 25 times per day (35lbs)
    Breaking down boxes and handling corrugate
