Job Summary


Church & Dwight is seeking an Enterprise Data Management Associate Director to join our team. The Enterprise Data Management Associate Director leads the development and advancement of enterprise-wide data management capabilities, including data governance, master data management, data quality, metadata management, and data stewardship. This role partners across business and technology functions to ensure critical enterprise data is accurate, secure, governed, and trusted. Combining strategic leadership with execution, the Associate Director establishes standards, influences cross-functional stakeholders, and leads complex initiatives that transform data into a strategic enterprise asset, enabling growth, operational excellence, analytics, automation, and AI.

Success in this position will drive faster, more informed business decisions, improve operational efficiency, strengthen compliance and risk management, and enable advanced analytics, automation, and AI capabilities across the organization.

 

Work Environment


Hybrid: This is a hybrid role based in Ewing, NJ and requires in- person attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays.

 

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities


Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance 

  • Support the development and execution of the enterprise data management strategy and roadmap. 
  • Establish and maintain practical data governance policies, standards, decision rights, and operating routines. 
  • Lead governance councils, stewardship forums, and working teams that prioritize and resolve cross-functional data matters. 
  • Align data initiatives to business strategy, operational priorities, risk requirements, and transformation programs. 
  • Communicate the business value, progress, risks, and outcomes of the data portfolio to senior leaders. 

Master and Reference Data Management 

  • Lead governance for critical data domains such as product and material, customer, supplier, finance, and other organizational data. 
  • Oversee end-to-end data lifecycle processes, including creation, approval, maintenance, distribution, and retirement. 
  • Improve consistency across enterprise resource planning, planning, reporting, commercial, and operational platforms. 
  • Partner with business and technology teams to resolve systemic issues, simplify processes, and reduce rework. 
  • Guide master data requirements for major programs, integrations, acquisitions, and system implementations. 
  • Drive global standardization of master data structures, naming conventions, classifications, and business rules  
  • Evaluate emerging industry standards and determine applicability to organizational data and governance processes  

Data Quality and Controls 

  • Define data quality measures, thresholds, ownership, and monitoring practices. 
  • Establish controls that improve data accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and traceability. 
  • Lead root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation of material data issues. 
  • Create clear performance reporting for data owners, governance forums, and executive stakeholders. 
  • Establish controls and monitoring processes 
  • Ensure data practices support and adhere t0 audit, compliance, privacy, security, and records requirements 

Stewardship and Organizational Enablement 

  • Build and sustain a network of accountable Data Stewards. 
  • Define role expectations, decision rights, escalation paths, and measures of stewardship effectiveness. 
  • Develop communications, training, playbooks, and change plans that increase adoption of data practices. 
  • Promote data literacy and a culture in which teams understand and act on their data responsibilities. 
  • Coach team members and emerging data leaders, creating clear development opportunities and succession depth. 

Data, Analytics, and AI Enablement 

  • Partner with analytics, reporting, automation, and AI teams to provide governed and reliable data foundations. 
  • Advance the use of business glossaries, data catalogs, data dictionaries, lineage, and metadata standards. 
  • Ensure data products and reports have clear ownership, definitions, quality expectations, and approved usage guidance. 
  • Support the Data Platform team scale data platforms with adherence to processes that balance governance with business speed. 

Program and Stakeholder Leadership 

  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through implementation and adoption. 
  • Actively participate and lead data integration needs of Acquisition, Mergers and Divestitures 
  • Develop roadmaps, business cases, delivery plans, milestones, measures, and executive-level updates. 
  • Influence stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Analytics, and Technology. 
  • Manage priorities, risks, dependencies, budgets, vendors, and issue resolution as required. 
  • Translate business needs into clear data capabilities and translate technical concepts into practical business language. 
  • Is a trusted advisor on data management strategy, governance, and business process standardization. 

Skills and Competencies

  • Data governance, master data management, data quality, metadata, lineage, and stewardship operating models. 
  • Strategic thinking paired with disciplined program and change management. 
  • Executive communication, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Business process analysis, continuous improvement, risk management, and controls. 
  • Practical understanding of data architecture, integration, reporting, analytics, and AI data requirements. 
  • Ability to make progress in ambiguous situations, balance competing priorities, and focus teams on outcomes.

  • Improved quality, consistency, and availability of priority enterprise data.
  • Reduced defects, duplicate effort, manual rework, and time required to resolve data issues.
  • Clear ownership and stronger participation across governance and stewardship communities.
  • Adoption of common policies, standards, definitions, controls, and lifecycle practices.
  • More reliable reporting, analytics, automation, and AI outcomes supported by trusted data.
  • Improved audit readiness, risk management, and compliance performance.
  • Delivery of roadmap commitments and measurable business value.

Education and Experience


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, business, data analytics, engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive experience in data management, data governance, master data management, data quality, analytics enablement, or business process transformation.
  • Leadership experience guiding teams and cross-functional programs, including influence without direct authority required.
  • Experience operating in a complex enterprise environment and partnering with senior business and technology leaders.
  • Experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP Master Data Governance is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in identifying and delivering AI solutions, in platform or beyond.

Compensation and Benefits 


The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $147,300– $209,700. This position is also eligible for a bonus.

U.S. employees are entitled to paid holidays, floating holidays, and vacation days starting in their first year of employment depending on hire date. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity.  Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
