Job Summary  

Church & Dwight is seeking a Manager, Category Management and Shopper Insights, to join our team. The Manager, Category Management & Shopper Insights is responsible for shaping and delivering compelling, insight-driven category narratives that drive growth with key customers.

About the Role

This role blends advanced analytics, shopper understanding, and strategic storytelling to translate complex data into clear, persuasive recommendations that influence both internal stakeholders and external partners.

As a trusted advisor to Sales, Marketing, and Customer teams, this leader develops and activates category growth platforms that unlock opportunities, strengthen customer partnerships, and elevate the organization’s position as a category thought leader.

Work Environment 

Remote: This role is performed on a remote basis. Occasional attendance at in-person meetings required as business needs dictate. 

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

Strategic Storytelling & Influence

  • Translate data, research, and shopper insights into clear, compelling category stories that drive decision-making and inspire action

  • Build persuasive, fact-based narratives tailored to customer priorities, delivering impactful presentations in line reviews, Joint Business Planning (JBP), and Top-to-Top meetings

  • Serve as the voice of the category, connecting shopper behavior, market trends, and retailer strategy into actionable growth opportunities

Category Strategy & Platform Development

  • Develop and lead category growth platforms aligned to strategic business units (SBUs) and key customers

  • Identify whitespace opportunities and translate them into scalable, customer-ready selling stories

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with Brand, Sales Strategy, and Key Account teams to embed category insights into go-to-market strategies

  • Act as a trusted resource for cross-functional teams, elevating how insights are used to inform decision-making

Customer Engagement & Execution

  • Lead preparation and delivery of customer-facing category reviews, line reviews, and strategic planning sessions

  • Maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring adherence to all data-sharing and confidentiality standards

Insights & Analytics Excellence

  • Leverage advanced tools and data sources (Circana, POS, loyalty data, panel data, shopper insights, assortment and POG analytics) to uncover meaningful insights

  • Synthesize multiple data streams into cohesive narratives, moving beyond reporting to actionable recommendations

  • Monitor competitive activity and proactively develop strategies to address risks and capture opportunities

Success Metrics (KPIs)

  • Development and quality of category platforms that deliver clear, insight-led growth strategies

  • Effectiveness of selling stories in driving category share and supporting successful line reviews

  • Growth in distribution, shelf presence, and share of space

  • Timely and impactful delivery of strategic projects that benefit the broader commercial organization

Travel Requirements

  • Travel frequently (approximately 30%) to support in-person customer engagements, retail visits, and key internal meetings

  • Flight travel required

Education and Experience                                                           

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • 8+ years of experience in the CPG industry required

  • 5+ years in a Shopper Insights/Category Management role in the CPG industry required

  • Nielsen and/or Circana syndicated data experience is required

  • Advanced Analytical capabilities are required

  • Loyalty card experience is also a plus
