Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst – Planning & Analysis 

Department: Finance 

Reports To: Finance Manager, Planning & Analysis 

Role Summary                                                            

Reporting to the Finance Manager, Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst – Planning & Analysis will be a key member of the finance team by providing key analytics and insights relating to the overall financial and operational performance of the Canadian business. This role will support the development of business performance practices and capabilities to deliver corporate goals and objectives. This position is ideal for the finance professional who is looking for an opportunity to drive impact and add value to a fast-growing organization. 

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities    

Forecasting Process & Business Performance Management: 

  • Facilitate the execution of the monthly/quarterly/annual forecasting process by ensuring key deliverables are met and the forecast is complete and accurate. Prepare presentation materials for executive management review. 

  • Conducts insightful analysis and evaluates all lines of the P&L to investigate and understand key business drivers. 

  • Identifies ways to improve and streamline the forecasting process by leveraging automation, data analytics, and system/process expertise. 

  • Develops best practices to enhance business performance management. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Enhance Oracle capabilities and application, acting as the Oracle EPM Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the organization. 

  • Partners with the Data Analytics Team to enhance finance capabilities and leverage AI to drive efficiency and automation objectives. 

  • Drives internal process improvements by identifying opportunities for standardization and simplification. 

Reporting & Analysis

  • Communicate financial results and insights to senior management. 

  • Performs variance analysis by comparing financial results to annual plan, prior forecast, and prior year to identify volume, mix, rate business drivers. 

  • Leads the development and maintenance of financial models, including sensitivity analysis to support overall business objectives. 

  • Builds capabilities in reporting automation to drive efficiency for the team 

  • Performs ad hoc analysis, communicate findings, and provide a recommendation on next step. 

Education and Experience                                                            

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or Accounting 

  • Professional Accounting Designation – CPA is an asset 

  • 3-5 years of experience in the CPG Industry 

  • Experience with Oracle and SAP 

  • Knowledge of Data Analytics tools, concepts, and application is highly preferred 

Skills and Competencies 

  • Proficient in MS Tools (Excel, Powerpoint, PowerBI) 

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to present data in a meaningful way and provide recommendations 

  • Ability to think critically and recommend ideas to improvement existing practices and tools 

  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to implement solutions 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented 

  • Leverages data analytics to enhance current practices, streamline processes, and develop reporting capabilities
