General Overview
The Operations Supervisor provides leadership, accountability, and responsibility for the Processing and Packaging of company products.
This role executes production plans by effectively utilizing people, processes, equipment, and systems in a safe, high‑quality, productive, cost‑effective, and on‑time manner.
Responsibilities include recruiting staff, training and developing personnel, conducting audits, acting as a change agent, and identifying and executing opportunities for improvement.
Schedule
Saturday–Sunday: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Monday–Tuesday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Essential Responsibilities
Operations & Performance
- Responsible for both Packaging and Processing Operations, including shift performance measures such as Output, OEE, Productivity Metrics, Quality Standards, Safety Programs, and Employee Relations.
- Demonstrates strong technical knowledge of the process and equipment.
- Provides daily written and oral updates to the Operations Manager and/or Plant Manager.
- Ensures production and processing data are compiled at shift end and distributed.
Leadership & Supervision
- Provides dotted-line oversight for Warehouse and Facilities Maintenance personnel as needed.
- Acts as point‑person during major plant issues or emergencies (e.g., power outages, fires, evacuations, chemical spills).
- Escalates safety, quality, productivity, personnel, or other issues as required.
- Provides supervisory coverage for overtime as dictated by the production schedule.
Staffing & Training
- Screens and interviews candidates for Packaging/Processing positions.
- Identifies applicants with prior experience or potential for skill development.
- Assigns training to new employees and organizes cross-training for current employees.
- Develops bench strength and promotes internal growth opportunities.
Operational Excellence
- Maximizes efficiencies through people, processes, equipment, and systems.
- Escalates issues to other departments as needed; drives cooperation to meet customer demand.
- Communicates expectations clearly, including the rationale behind policies.
- Benchmarks and reports on Quality, Safety, accuracy, labor cost savings, loss reductions, and other metrics.
Administrative & Compliance
- Manages weekly E‑Time system for payroll accuracy.
- Supports a Continuous Improvement environment by seeking and evaluating employee suggestions.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate policies and regulations.
- Supports and executes Mechanic Assessment and Rotation Programs and related development programs.
- Manages line teams to achieve financial standards, reallocating or releasing headcount when appropriate.
- Ensures completion of all required paperwork and checklists (e.g., 6S audits).
- Responds to plant emergencies as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Packaging Responsibilities
- Reassigns qualified personnel to ensure adequate coverage.
- Manages temporary labor levels according to seasonal demand.
Processing Responsibilities
- Ensures proper cycle times for pre‑weighing and processing of batches.
- Ensures compounders meet goals for safety, cleanliness, quality, and productivity.
- Publishes daily/weekly reports capturing department results.
- Develops and cross‑trains Compounders and Pre‑Weigh employees across Dental and Non‑Dental product processing.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, WMS, SAP.
- Deep knowledge of production operations, equipment, materials, and workflow.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
- Strong understanding of Processing and Packaging nuances.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills; able to prioritize in fast‑paced environments.
- Calm under pressure; flexible with schedules as needed.
- Knowledge of cGMPs and FDA regulations for OTC drug manufacturing (21 CFR 211).
- Familiarity with OEE, Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, 5S.
- Highly energetic, people‑oriented, and motivating leadership style.
- Seen as trustworthy and solutions‑focused.
- Demonstrates expertise in systems such as LPD, automated dental batching, DI/RO water systems, wastewater systems, tank farm, and chemical warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in batching methods for Dental, Orajel, Nair, Household, Aerosol, DEO/AP, and DEO Gels.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, analyze information, and make strong decisions under pressure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; preference for Operations, Engineering, or related technical fields.
- 4–6 years of experience in fast‑paced consumer goods, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Minimum of two years of direct supervisory experience overseeing hourly staff.
- Strong, detailed knowledge of SOPs and GMPs.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary Range
$81,700 – $122,600 (USD)
This position is also eligible for a bonus.

Actual base pay varies depending on knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
