If the answer is yes - then look no further. Church & Dwight UK Ltd are excited to expand our dynamic team and are currently looking for a Lead Microbiologist as an experienced addition to our Quality Department based at Wear Bay Road.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Microbiologist with previous experience in a laboratory environment within a regulated industry (e.g., FMCG, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices) or a similarly related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize team work in accordance with business needs.
  • Act as the voice and point of contact for microbiological issues.
  • Ensure competence and compliance of laboratory staff with relevant procedures and ISO standards.
  • Perform microbiological tests on materials for production.
  • Conduct microbiological monitoring in production plant and filling areas.
  • Sample and test RO process water and seawater deliveries.
  • Examine contaminated plates to determine bacterial profiles.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce concise reports.
  • Maintain a clean working environment in accordance with procedures and regulations.
  • Perform and collate data from environmental testing.
  • Support internal investigations requiring microbiological testing.
  • Participate in validation exercises.
  • Support documentation management of microbiological-related publications.
  • Promote safe and compliant working practices.
  • Delegate for the QC Manager when necessary.
  • Promote C&D strategies.
  • Support the laboratory 5S program.
  • Perform other reasonable duties related to the scope of work required.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of GMP and ISO standards, as well as familiarity with quality tools such as Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, and CAPA. Minimum qualifications include A levels in a scientific subject. Excellent planning, communication, and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate must be able to maintain accurate laboratory documentation, work safely and effectively within a small team, and communicate effectively with various departments within the organization.

This role works 39 hours per week Monday-Friday.
