OBJECTIVE:

To work under general supervision and perform moderately complex professional engineering assignments in one or more of the following fields: facilities engineering, manufacturing and/or process engineering.  Provides technical assistance to plant maintenance departments focusing on process improvements to improve bottom line results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   *denotes essential job functions

*(1)     Analyzes, tests, evaluates, investigates and solves moderately complex problems relative to engineering

            projects.

  (2)      May establish SPB’s safety programs and QSR procedures.

  (3)      Prepares and maintains statistical data, charts, specifications and reports relative to the plant’s processes.

*(4)      Works with technicians or maintenance personnel, providing technical guidance as necessary.

  (5)      Oversees and coordinates with outside vendors.  Develops services specifications and solicits, evaluates, and recommends bids

  (6)      May perform daily inspections of plant utility equipment and/or serves as plant contact for maintenance contractors.

*(7)      Assists Corporate Project Engineers in the design and execution of Capital Projects.

  (8)      Assists, as needed, in the event of an emergency evacuation or other plant emergency.

  (9)      Assists Production and facility Maintenance with problem solving including, but not limited to process quality, equipment performance, and/or cost reduction.

*(10)    Assists in the formulation of written training, maintenance or safety procedures and perform training as needed.

*(11)    Develops, justifies and procures resources for capital projects.

*(12)    Follows all Plant rules/regulations and works to acceptable industrial standards, GMP’s and QSR

            programs.

*(13)    Must comply with all safety procedures and programs.

*(14)    Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor

EDUCATION: MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience.  Prefer Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial engineering or Chemical Engineering. Prefer experience with a manufacturer of FDA Medical Device(s), Rubber/polymers or similar products.  Knowledge of GMP’s/QSR a plus.

EXPERIENCE: MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

Up to three years of diverse professional engineering assignments; minimum of one year of related experience.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Must have good written and verbal communication skills.  Good listening and interpersonal skills.

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing problem solving skills.

Work independently and exercise good judgment.

Can plan and organize the work of others.

Be a team player.

Pro-active safety and housekeeping practices.

SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT USED:

Must be familiar with usage of personal computers for engineering projects and reports.  Hand tools, machine shop equipment, electronic meters and measurement devices preferred.

COMMENTS:

This individual must be well organized and capable of planning and organizing the work of others on a

large scale.  Excellent listening and communication skills are needed to understand what is expected

and to gain cooperation of others.  Must be a good problem solver.  Must be able to work with little supervision.
