Essential Functions/Responsibility:
- Responsible always for promoting a safety culture and awareness within area of responsibility. Support all plant safety policies and procedures.
- Install, monitor, test, repair, and replace electrical circuits, motors, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers and transformers using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Operate, repair, and maintain high voltage switchgear, controls, motor control centers and PLC’s.
- Perform diagnostic tests, repair or replace electronic control or related components on equipment, tools and other production equipment. Including ground fault tracing and cable replacement.
- Provide plant controls support in the troubleshooting of PLC-based control systems and some degree of instrumentation with the desire and ability to advance this skillset.
- Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus in machinery and buildings. Includes repair or replacement of conduit and/or wiring.
- Diagnose malfunctioning electrical equipment using testing instruments and hand tools to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem.
- Diagnose, repair and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment. Including but not limited to seals, gaskets and bearings on motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, sumps, mills, etc.
- Troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)
- Execute preventative maintenance schedules. Perform routine electrical and mechanical inspections, repairs and maintenance on plant equipment (i.e.-emergency lighting, motors, switchgear, smoke detectors, etc.)
- Adhere to department’s GMP’s, SOP’s and JSA’s procedure and policy requirements. Participates in all job-related safety training and personally complies with all safety policies and procedures.
- Wear appropriate PPE and adhere to safety procedures
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work from sketches or verbal instructions.
- Interpret blueprints.
- Work side by side with controls engineer
- Perform routine electrical inspections (i.e.-emergency lighting, motors switchgear, etc.)
- Create work notifications into Maintenance Management System
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Assist with all tasks required to maintain facility as needed.
- Follow all plant safety, GMP and SOP regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization
- Excellent communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc.
- Ability to prioritize and direct work assignments in a fast-paced, dynamic, production driven work environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power and control, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical principles.
- Must have strong working knowledge of AC and DC motors, PLC’s, relay control and analog control systems.
- Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
- Knowledge to troubleshoot causes of operating errors and decide the best course of action to fix.
- Must be proficient using all electrical measuring instruments.
- Ability to install equipment, machines, controls, conduit and wiring.
- Ability to repair machines or systems using the required tools.
- Proven knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and Underwriter Laboratories (UL) standards, Allen Bradley Controls, AC and motor controls, and process sensors of all types Must have ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Must have good teamwork and communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have computer skills necessary to interface with machinery programs and perform basic email and electronic document functions.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Black Seal boiler operator license desirable or ability to obtain one.
- Provide suggestions for better upgrades
- Recognize when to repair on the spot and when to plan for permanent repair
- Report and communicate work with the team
- Participate and willing to talk in group
Education & Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years as an industrial electrician (approx. 70% of position requirement) with mechanical equipment repair (approx. 30% of position requirement).
- Candidates must be able to speak to their work experiences in fast paced manufacturing facilities, preferably in consumer product goods, food or pharmaceutical industries.
- Applicants will demonstrate their willingness to work in compliance with regulatory agencies and be able to speak to FDA/GMP requirements.
Physical Requirements:
Job will require to work from lifts, ladders, scaffolds and roofs in order to install, maintain or repair electrical/mechanical equipment, controls and wiring work
