THE POSITION:

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Corporate Controller is responsible for C&D Canada’s Accounting and Financial Reporting function.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Lead and develop the Accounting & Controls team (3 Direct Reports and total team of 8)
  • Provide and report on the financial results of the company on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis ensuring amounts reported are complete, timely and accurate, and in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Oversees monthly/quarterly balance sheet review process ensuring all balances are accurate and drivers of change identified.
  • Lead the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance process locally and in conjunction with the parent company’s Internal Audit function
  • Works across the organization to minimize company’s risk by ensuring compliance of, and through the enhancement of, its internal controls
  • Streamline accounting and control processes and seeking continuous improvements
  • Develop practical administrative policies to reduce complexity/generate cost savings
  • Manage chart of accounts and G/L mapping of financial reports in SAP
  • Assist in preparation of monthly forecasts and annual financial plans
  • Participate in cross functional and parent/subsidiary projects as required
  • Co-ordinate the requirements of the corporate office and manufacturing facility to ensure month-end reporting meets corporate deadlines
  • Assist in due diligence of any potential acquisitions and/or in integration of acquired businesses
  • Lead and manage the year-end audit with external auditors, and any CRA related tax audits
  • Overall business lead for CCC improvements. Working cross-functionally to educate organization and influence CCC strategy. Shares best practices with International markets and identifies opportunities to reduce working capital balances (incl. Wells Fargo 3rd party relationship).
  • Supports sales organization in customer negotiation of customer payment terms and repayments. Monitors compliance and engages with sales to drive mitigating actions, incl. attending customer meetings where necessary.
  • Executes CHD Canada Treasury function; including cashflow forecasting, forecasting USD FX needs, executing hedges and FX purchases providing recommendations to manage exposure
  • Responsible for managing all CHD Canada bank accounts and balances. Key liaison for external banking partners.
  • Recommends and sets inventory provision amounts to account for aged/remnant inventory risk
  • Vendor setup approval including review and approval of vendor payment terms.
  • Accountable for customer setup; incl. credit checks, payments terms and customer credit limit approvals
  • Leads Quarterly Audit Report (QAR) process to satisfy legal and statutory reporting requirements
  • Responsible for looking after insurance and financial management of leases
  • Finance Master data point on setup and on-going management and issue resolution
  • Accountable for annual tax filing process and managing relationship with external tax partners
  • Works closely with HR team to co-ordinate Benefits estimation and tracking to ensure appropriate expenses are charged to P&L and Balance sheet
  • Leads annual capital planning process ensuring visibility to budget spend requests and timely close out of projects and setup of fixed asset on ledger

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 + years of experience in a senior role of an Accounting function, preferably in the consumer packaged goods industry
  • CPA designation
  • Strong SAP experience
  • Previous experience managing a staff of direct reports
