Position Overview
Ensures strict adherence to company and government quality standards by testing and observing the production, bagging and packaging of sodium bicarbonate and related consumer products. Provides analytical support to the plant for process optimization.
What you’ll do:
- Complete assigned analyses, required testing and reporting, and ensure quality control of packaging processes for package integrity, code dating, weight control, etc.
- Operate laboratory analytical equipment including ICP, HPLC, IC, UV/VIS, Particle Size and Wet Chemistry Analysis.
- Ensure sodium bicarbonate is produced following FDA/GMP and customer guidelines.
- Inspect bagging and packaging lines for product specifications and proper equipment operations
- Sample and evaluate incoming shipments of raw materials for specification compliance
- Evaluate non-conforming results and initiate re-sampling, retesting, and/or on hold procedures as required
- Audit work performed for omissions, deletions, and errors
- Record all data obtained, using established formats and notation conventions
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area
- Make written/verbal releases of tested materials to production or shipping supervision, according to established quality control policies
- Compile summaries of test results for inclusion in regular departmental reporting
- Participate in and lend support to the lean manufacturing plant practices
- Maintain working knowledge of the plant food safety program and basic HACCP principles
- Assist with calibration and preventative maintenance of lab instruments, CWR testing and air sampling
- Become trained as an auditor and perform sanitation/safety inspections
What you’ll need:
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus 1 or more years of applicable relevant lab experience. Preference will be given to candidates possessing Associate’s degree in Chemistry or related science field or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven attention to detail and the ability to reason and make timely, quality decisions
- Fluency in MS Office Suite
- Manufacturing lab environment experience preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of GC, ICP, and HPLC equipment preferred.
