The Controls Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of the factory floor control systems, information systems, and support of the manufacturing operations. The person in this job will play a key role on the team to design, install, and start-up, troubleshoot and operate the process and packaging systems in the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Design, specification, development, installation, start up, troubleshooting, and improvement of process control systems, plant floor systems and equipment.
- Support plant troubleshooting and problem solving of factory floor systems, electrical and control issues.
- Lead the development and implementation of process improvements to meet business needs.
- Prepare, submit, and manage controls technology and information technology aspects of capital expenditures and support project engineers in achieving their project deliverables.
- Manages all aspects of project lifecycle: viability, schedule and scope adherence, project cost controls, validation, start-up, troubleshooting, knowledge transfer and closure.
- Develop, implement, and maintain hardware and software aspects of the plant floor systems and plant control systems.
- Prepare and manage operational and capital expenditure budgets for plant control systems and all information technology systems.
- Provide leadership and coaching/development of internal resources.
- Develop and drive engineering and controls solutions
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all company policies and standards
- Key responsibility of data generation and logging from the plant floor systems
Basic Qualifications:
- BS Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience programming, testing, installing, and starting up Allen - Bradley ControlLogix PLC’s and RS Batch.
- 3 years of Manufacturing experience.
- A working knowledge of production processes and control systems to include PID control tuning and PLC ladder logic.
- Knowledge and experience of:
- Electrical 3 phase power
- Motor Controls (Variable Frequency Drives, Standard Motor Starters)
- Industrial Automation Networks
- Computer Networks (Ethernet, Cisco Switches, PC Network Setup, virtualization)
- Experience programming, testing, installing, and starting up Allen – Bradley family products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of: Vision systems, industrial robotic arms (Fanuc, ABB, etc.), Cobots (UR, Fanuc, etc.), AGVs/LGVs or AMRs would be an advantage.
- Strong technical communication skills.
- Familiarity with the following Applications
- Familiarity with SAP to Plant floor interfaces utilizing SAP
