Role Summary                                                          

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Chemist to join our Transformational Technology-Personal Care team. As a Senior Research Chemist, you will play a critical role in assessing new technologies and areas for innovation. You will be responsible for independently leading research projects that may entail the development of new formulations and or improving existing products to meet customer needs and regulatory standards. This position requires a strong background in consumer goods chemistry, extensive knowledge of good laboratory practices, experience translating consumer insight into executable innovation, and an understanding of how to take products from idea to the commercial market.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities   

Conduct research and develop new chemical formulations for consumer goods products within oral care, hair care, sexual health and women’s health spaces under the general direction of the Program Manager. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, product development, process engineering, quality, safety, regulatory, and marketing to ensure alignment on product specifications and compliance to safety and regulatory standards. Under minimal guidance, analyze data, provide timely reports. Maintain accurate records of research activities in laboratory notebook, including experimental procedures, observations, and results. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, scientific advancements, safety/tox and regulatory requirements related to consumer goods. Collaborate as needed with external vendors, suppliers, and research institutions to leverage their expertise and resources. Evaluate and improve existing products, by assessing customer feedback and addressing performance issues. Participate in technical reviews, present findings, and make recommendations to senior management. Provide innovative technology and leadership in solving research problems. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.

Education and Experience                                                          

  • B.S. degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Biochemistry, Biology or related disciplines, (with 7 years of experience), Master's (with 5 years of experience), or Ph.D. (with 3 years of experience). Proven experience as a research chemist in the consumer goods industry with a focus on product development and formulation a plus.

  • Displays intellectual curiosity that drives prototype creation and solutions to complex problems
  • Strategic thinker that can convert strategy into action across diverse SBUs
  • Ability to develop, organize and prioritize tasks within assigned projects and work with Program Manager to coordinate assigned projects an assess progress
  • Agile problem solver that can collaborate cross-functionally, internally/externally to drive for results.
  • Visionary thinker; can see future possibilities when scouting for new innovations, strategic; when planning new approaches and long-term initiatives, tactical; to achieve short term wins.
  • Strong portfolio and project management skills
