Job Location: Remote, USA
The Leave of Absence Manager will act as the subject matter expert on all state and national leave programs, providing support to both plant and corporate locations across the United States. This role is critical in establishing our strategic direction and driving our leave policies and procedures across the nation, supporting our diverse workforce at both the manufacturing and corporate locations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate as the strategic owner and ultimate point of contact for approximately 4,500 U.S. employees, managers, and HR department for all leave of absence requests, accommodations, and related issues.
- Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive compliance program that adheres to all relevant state and federal laws regarding leaves of absence, including, but not limited to, FMLA, ADA, and various state leave laws.
- Lead the formulation, implementation, and continuous improvement of the comprehensive process for employee leaves and accommodations, prioritizing seamless employee experiences.
- Collaborate closely with Payroll and the third party administrator to ensure accurate pay during leaves and efficient processing of short-term and long-term disability claims.
- Direct the development and delivery of educational resources to employees, HR, and management about leave of absence protocols, promoting a culture of awareness and understanding.
- Drive the continuous review and modification of leave policies and procedures based on up-to-date expertise on all state and national leave programs.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with HR, Legal, Payroll, and third-party administrators to efficiently manage leaves and address complex cases.
- Conduct regular audits of leave cases to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain reports and metrics related to leaves of absence.
- Oversee the design and development of tools, guidelines, and procedures to optimize leave administration and overall service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience managing leaves of absences, disability benefits, and accommodations in a complex, multi-state environment.
- In-depth understanding of state and federal laws related to leaves of absence. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., Workday) and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
An advanced degree or certification in HR or a related field. Experience in a manufacturing and corporate environment.
