REPORTS TO: Plant: Tech/Engineering Manager (Solid Line)

Corp: Global Lean Reliability/People Capability Manager (Dotted Line)

Position Summary/Objective:

The plant role works with minimum supervision to perform complex professional reliability engineering assignments in one or more of the following fields: facilities, processing, automation, and packaging engineering.  Provides technical assistance to regional plants. May supervise maintenance planning, scheduling, MRO purchasing work, or other technical functions. Leads training and development for site TPM SME’s.

Support for corporate includes managing consultants and external partnerships, coaching and skill development for the global reliability community members, Co-Chair the global TPM Task Force in strategy development and program implementation, Chair or Co-chair the TPM and/or Maintenance Planning sub-team and lead TPM site assessments throughout the organization. This position supports the Global Lean organization and requires up to 40% travel.

Job Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Plant Responsibilities:

  • Predictive/Preventive Maintenance program development/management and machine essential care routines and strategy utilizing SAP.

  • Supervises team of Maintenance Planner(s), MRO Buyer(s) and other technical staff supporting all plant maintenance programs

  • Plans or delegates planning daily inspections of plant utility equipment, PMs, PdMs.

  • Prepares and maintains statistical data, charts, specifications and reports relative to the plant’s processes.

  • Provides technical guidance & supports Lean RCA/problem solving, safety and technical training for maintenance, operations and quality personnel.

  • Develops Autonomous Maintenance program with Operations, Engineering, Lean and Quality managers and provides technical guidance and training of plant personnel

  • Coordinates work with outside vendors and external partners as needed and may serve as plant contact for maintenance contractors and technical consultants.

  • Assists Corporate Project Engineers in the design and execution of Capital Projects.

  • Assists in the formulation of training, maintenance or safety procedures.  Performs training as needed.

  • Manage multiple projects to ensure on-time delivery and quality using both internal and external resources.

Corporate Support Responsibilities:

Supports development, implementation and updates to the TPM and training programs of the TPM / Reliability systems described below. Supports the Global Lean Reliability manager and serves as backup as needed.

  • Develop and deliver process/programs that guide and support equipment reliability, maintenance efforts standards and autonomous and professional maintenance teams across all C&D sites. 

  • Leads the TPM Health Checks at global sites according to the TPM master plan roadmap aligned the Global Supply Chain strategy and designed to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost Objectives using lean tools, techniques and methods.

  • Implement the use of standard dashboards that measure TPM Reliability KPIs and audits to track progress.

  • Work collaboratively with the Global Operations Leadership Team to define the organization structure, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources to ensure conformance with the TPM / Reliability standards.

  • Training, coaching and challenging process owners in the use of Reliability / TPM and statistical tools, approaches and techniques to create sustainable management and measurement systems.

  • Lead development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Manufacturing process labor standards for autonomous and professional maintenance teams

  • Collaborate and build links with engineering and reliability professionals to infuse consistent and best in class processes, techniques, tools and systems for reliability and maintenance excellence.

  • Supports Corp Budget for maintenance spend of $40MM / year, MRO storage of $30MM and professional maintenance headcount of ~180 maintenance professionals.

Education and Experience Capabilities: (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience working in Lean Manufacturing, Technical, Maintenance and/or Operations Management within a manufacturing environment.  Work experience should demonstrate growth in position and/or responsibility.

  • Proven experience on leading projects to reduce conversion cost and/or improving responsiveness.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field, military training or certification in reliability (CMRP).

  • Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Black Belt certification from ASQ, the Lean Institute or equivalent is a plus.

  • Consumer products industry and cGMP/GFSI knowledge or working experience a plus.

  • Practical experience in project/ program management and lean reliability implementation.

  • Audit experience and/or program management

Special Skills/Competencies & Requirements:

  • Ability to establish and manage PM, PdM, RCM program requirements, SOPs and KPI’s

  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), use of SAP and financial analysis.  SAP SuperUser is preferred. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office & Data Visualization programs. 

  • Strategic planning, with strong communication skills, including developing and implementing processes that connect with manufacturing sites and share best practices

  • Demonstrated results in Lean/Six Sigma implementation.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in solving difficult tasks.

  • Strong ability to influence others without authority and deliver results through others

  • Strong initiative and ability to effectively work independently.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. Root cause analysis certification, preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time domestic and internationally as needed.
