Church & Dwight Canada is a Consumer Packaged Goods company with over 30 leading brands in the Personal Care, OTC, and Household categories. Its’ signature brand is the Arm & Hammer family of products that include baking soda, laundry detergent, dental care, and cat litter. Other well-known and successful Church & Dwight brands include First Response, Trojan, Rub A535, Gravol, Orajel, Nair, Vitafusion, L’il Critters, and OxiClean. The company recently bolstered its brand roster with the acquisitions of Anusol, Waterpik, Batiste Dry Shampoo, Toppik Hair Building Fibers, Viviscal, RepHresh, Replens, and Flawless.

Position: Category and Shopper Insights Manager

Reports to: Category Management and Shopper Insights Leader

Overview: This role is an expert on the category, competitive, consumer, and retailer landscape for key brands in our business portfolio. This role leverages data as a competitive advantage to enable strategic and sales planning, leverage consumer and customer insights, and enable execution. This role has a balance between the short and long term. This role will utilize advanced analytical capabilities, market research and insights, and executional tools to elevate our influence with both internal and external customers. The Category & Shopper Insights Manager will work with brand teams, customer strategic planning, key sales teams, and retailers to develop, lead, and communicate fact-based analysis and insights in their respective category (s) to help drive C&D and category topline sales objectives.

Key responsibilities:

1) Planning: Leverage customer and consumer insight to proactively plan both internally and externally

• Develops deep understanding of the category, shopper insight, competitive and retailer landscape to inform future marketing initiatives and sales planning

• Lead the thinking on assortment and planogram recommendations to help identify and drive strategic sales opportunities and customer growth objectives

• Uncover business insights and sales opportunities that will accelerate retail growth

2) Insights: Leverage data to drive insights into specific actions with simplified & strong storytelling

• Advanced utilization of Tools and Insights to create insights: Nielsen and customer POS, Loyalty Card, Panel, Shopper insights, Assortment, and POG tools

• Monitor competitive activity and recommend solutions to meet/counter competitive threats to business

• Provides industry, consumer, and customer trends to develop strategic action plans

• Effectively communicates category management insights within internal C&D organization

3) Execution: Leverage data to close the sale with retailers and to enable the execution of plans

• Serves as a trusted advisor to key customers for product assortment, placement, pricing, promotion, and category strategies

• Leverages industry, consumer, and customer trends to secure buy-in to strategic action plans

• Actively leads and participates in the preparation of line reviews and re-occurring Customer Category reviews, regular monthly updates, JBP plans, and Top to Top meetings

The Category & Shopper Insights Manager role will be evaluated on the following KPIs:

• Execution of product assortment and shelving recommendations

• Increased distribution share growth or share of shelf growth

• Strong organizational reporting and consistent sharing of point-of-sale reality

• Successfully influencing internal planning by leveraging insights

• Demonstrated mastery of data tools and strong understanding of competitive/customer challenges facing priority brands

The Ideal Candidate Possesses:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a business or analytics-related discipline

• 5+ years of CPG industry experience is required

• 2+ years of Category Management experience required

• Nielsen data experience is required

• Advanced Analytical capabilities are required

• POG software (like JDA) understanding and proficiency is a plus

• Loyalty card experience is also a plus
