Summary:

The Trademark & Brand Protection team is seeking a Brand Protection Specialist to help combat counterfeit Church & Dwight products in the global market.  This role will sit within the legal department and report to the Brand Protection Manager and will assist in the development and execution of brand enforcement strategies and initiatives that protect the integrity of Church & Dwight goods in all consumer markets, throughout the products lifecycle and supply chain.   

The successful candidate will work closely with other cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks to brand reputation and ensure that the company’s intellectual property assets are fully protected. 

The successful candidate will have experience in a consumer goods company, with law enforcement, corporate investigations, or an enforcement vendor.  They will thrive on finding creative ways to protect Church & Dwight IP and help drive consumers to authentic, authorized consumer products and experiences.  

They will be business-oriented, able to think outside the box, and looking to challenge long-standing assumptions about how to manage IP.  

This is a fast-paced role that requires strong business acumen, curiosity, and significant initiative.  This role is an excellent opportunity for any individual operating in brand protection to be part of a global team focusing on both traditional brand protection measures including enforcement of trademark rights and a more intelligence and data driven approach based the integration of AI & technology. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Proactively file online complaints of copyright and trademark infringement, counterfeit products, infringing social media pages, and rogue websites, using third party monitoring tools, platform complaint programs or other channels. 

  • Proactively monitor, review, and analyze global online marketplaces to identify emerging brand risks, both vulnerabilities and developing, in the online landscape, and communicating appropriate mitigating controls. 

  • Deliver reporting on ecommerce brand protection activities that highlight regional statistics and key trends to be given to business partners. 

  • Field complaints regarding counterfeit Church & Dwight Brands, assess their validity and create a strategic enforcement strategy. 

  • Identify high value targets offline for investigation. 

  • Assist the Brand Protection Manager in Coordinating investigative efforts with private investigative groups, local law enforcement, customs agencies, and external counsel. 

  • Assist in the development of guidelines and conduct training for internal and external stakeholders about brand protection and intellectual property matters. 

  • Assist in the training of customs and law enforcement agencies globally and respond to seizure notifications and other anti-counterfeiting activities.  

  • Stay up to date on industry trends in global brand protection and enforcement 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in a brand protection role or equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Understanding of IP law, including trademark, copyright, and fair use principles. 

  • Experience using brand protection tools and IP management tools, such as Alibaba BP platform, Amazon Brand Registry, and case management programs. 

  • Demonstrated experience with data management tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI 

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with a broad set of cross-functional teams to achieve business goals, including different legal, business, marketing, and PR teams.   

  • Ability to provide recommendations, implement, and manage the companies' brand protection policies 

  • Investigative & Analytical acumen – law enforcement background a plus 

  • Strong process management
