Position Overview
Under the direction of the Technical Department, this position will be a Process Expert for the PM/Stores Area within the plant. They will oversee the MRO critical parts system seeing that all critical parts are maintained, and the process is efficient for the plant’s success. They will have prime responsibility for negotiating and purchasing equipment, parts, materials, services, and supplies from vendors and contractors in support of the MRO function, capital projects, and the operations of the plant.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area of responsibility
- Convert requisitions and process all purchase orders in SAP either from the MRP parts planned schedule system or from generated purchase requisitions out of the PM system within the operating procedures set by plant management
- Process capital requisitions from GEP Smart systems and stores items from SAP in compliance with the operating procedures set by plant management
- Help investigate procurement alternatives as needed by managers and supervisors
- Set the minimum and maximum inventory levels of critical parts in the MRO inventory and set up all material masters and pricing records as needed.
- Procure all other supplies, parts, equipment, and services as directed by plant management
- Act as the plant expert for purchasing processes within SAP PM purchasing module and the purchasing system such that all guidelines and training requirements are met, and the data is maintained and cleansed
- Assist in the management of critical parts storeroom and other non-critical parts inventory as needed including cleanliness and orderliness
- Help resolve any issues that may have a negative effect on the ability to run the plant or complete preventative maintenance planning
- Track and expedite deliveries when necessary. Off shift plant emergencies for parts may need to be expedited on occasion
- Maintain low component inventories without jeopardizing production
- Coordinate with engineering/operations the launch of new equipment, the need for spare parts stocking, and capital project support as needed
- Lead the critical parts/stores process by being a systems expert, developing and implementing processes, initiating, and leading plant training purchasing procedures
- Optimize the critical parts inventory
- Communicate effectively with all plant and corporate personnel, suppliers, and other stakeholders such that the plant is represented in a professional manner at all times
- Identify and champion opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing and MRO process
- Provide a positive and professional example to plant and corporate employees promoting a team environment
- Follow all SOP’s and meet all customer requirements
- Follow plant food safety programs and basic HACCP principles
- Other projects and duties as assigned by plant management
What you’ll need:
- Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization
- Excellent communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc.
- Must have ability to communicate clearly in English – verbal and written
- Excellent organizational/time management skills
- Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment, calm under pressure and flexibility to adapt to changing schedules as appropriate
- Strong computer skills (SAP, WMS, and MS Office Suite)
- In-depth knowledge of production operation, including equipment, materials, workflow, etc.
- Basic knowledge of supply chain concepts such as MRP, cycle counts, and inventory control required
- Ability to interact with all levels of management as well as the hourly work force to receive process feedback and provide process solutions that benefit the Old Fort plant and C&D
- Associates Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field with relevant field experience required, Bachelors Degree Preferred.
- 5+ years proven experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required
