Role Summary                                                          

The Data Steward is responsible for the creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of master and product data to support Church and Dwight’s businesses. This individual has responsibility for working closely with key stakeholders within functional groups to ensure that master and product data are analyzed, controlled, entered and released into Master Data Management (MDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) business systems in a timely manner, as dictated by business needs.  The duties of the Data Steward include proactive collaboration with data owners/requestors to ensure clarity to ensure completeness.

This individual works on a moderately complex set of data objects and/or business brands and grows that set over time to additional objects and increasingly complexity, demonstrating an increased depth of subject matter expertise and of business understanding.

The Data Steward helps mentor new or more junior data stewards, and contributes to the improvements to data stewardship standards, processes and practices in the Data Steward Community of Practice.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities  

  • Creates, analyzes, maintains, monitors and manages either master data in ERP and/or other integrated solutions in compliance with established service levels or product data in PLM, including change requests, change orders and deviations to support new product introductions and product changes
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to work with business partners on addressing their business needs through appropriate data support
  • Analyzes information to identify root causes and downstream impacts of master data changes to the entire business environment (big picture)
  • Provides creative yet logical approaches to solving data problems utilizing established global and regulatory rules
  • Audits data accuracy, enhances data quality, and trains users to ensure continuity of results
  • Promotes and implements practices, policies and standards adopted by Enterprise Data Management (EDM)
  • Identifies areas of process and data weakness and suggests improvements
  • Applies and enforces policies and procedures to ensure uniform, accurate, and consistent data are present in support of SOX and/or Quality audit requirements
  • Provides testing support for upgrades, break fix, and enhancements, including integration testing from various sources to target systems
  • Participates in the Data Steward Community of Practice and mentors more junior data stewards

Education and Experience                                                          

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business or related discipline
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience with ERP system, master data management system, or product lifecycle management system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience employing the skills at the designated proficiency level as indicated in the Data Steward Skills Model
  • Basic understanding of CPG manufacturing process preferred

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated skills in managing prioritization and complexity, using strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working autonomously as well as with internal and external teams
  • Demonstrated strength in promoting & enforcing guidelines for Data creation, modification, security & access
