THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Canadian Operations Finance Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst - Supply Chain will be a key member of the Finance team, providing analysis and insights as well as facilitating key decisions related to manufacturing costs, freight costs and inventory levels. This position is ideal for the professional who is looking for an opportunity for career growth and wanting to add value to a fast-growing organization.
The successful candidate will:
- Works in close partnership with the Supply Chain & US Operation Finance team to provide analysis and insights relating to direct material & logistic costs
- Play a key role in connecting Supply Chain to Finance and identifying levers that impact financial performance. Regular communication to ensure alignment.
- Develop and implement cost analysis to provide financial insight for decision making and make recommendations
- Prepare direct manufacturing cost analysis identifying and reporting timely updates on key measures/drivers and quantify impact to the business at a brand/product level
- Play a key role in the month end process with accrual JE pertaining to transport as well as inventory provisions
- Own the input into the monthly forecast and annual budgeting process for Direct Manufacturing & Freight costs, performing analysis on all cost movements including product changes/mix, inflation, etc. to ensure forecasting accuracy
- Investigate Direct Manufacturing and Freight cost variances, analyze trends and provide explanation and actionable recommendations
- Perform annual transfer price study working closely with external audit partners
- Responsible for activities relating to inventory management and controls, including monitoring and oversight of inventory level and write downs/reserves. Provides input into Cash Conversion models and forecast
- Lead and participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives to gain efficiencies
- Single Point of Contact (key finance contact) for all functional groups on direct manufacturing and freight costs
- Work with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Internal and External Auditors
- Make recommendations on improving established policies and procedures, and implement changes
- Document standard operating procedures.
- Participate in SOX testing and process review
- Complete complex analytical work and ad hoc projects as requested
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- Professional Accounting Designation – CPA and/or MBA preferred
- Experience with cost accounting, budgeting and internal controls
- Strong analytical skills with ability to present data in a meaningful way and make recommendations
- In-depth knowledge of preparing and analyzing account reconciliations
- Ability to think critically and recommend ideas for improvement of existing policies and practices
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to implement solutions
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Office
- SAP and Oracle experience is an asset
