Position Overview

Plans, organizes, and monitors the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received from production, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so inventory gets distributed to proper locations in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.

This is at the Old Fort, OH Facility. Standard hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the distribution function in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of Shipping Operators; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary.
  • Maintains an equipment structure and level to accomplish the shipping and receiving function in a safe, effective manner. 
  • Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of all materials. 
  • Involved in researching material handling equipment to ensure procurement of the most suitable equipment in terms of performance, safety, reliability, and cost.
  • Monitors the loading of outbound materials. 
  • Ensures materials are staged for timely loading. 
  • Ensures Shipping documents are accurate and complete. 
  • Oversees and spot checks outbound materials.
  • Monitors and measures shipping/receiving and warehouse performance for accuracy of locator, receiving reporting, movement and storage of material.
  • Coordinates and communicates with the other departments as it pertains to the Distribution department. 
  • Monitors and enforces procedures to reduce Customer Complaints.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Familiar with the plant food safety program and basic HACCP principles

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work for long periods of time, under pressure, to produce results.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment, calm under pressure and flexibility to direct work force and adapt to changing schedules as appropriate.
  • Strong leadership abilities and skills as a team builder, coach, and mentor.
  • Strong computer skills (SAP, WMS and MS Office Suite).
  • Basic knowledge of distribution operation, including equipment, materials, work flow, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate a computer in a Windows-based environment and ability to use most office equipment.
  • Proficient in Office Suite products and Enterprise level systems such as SAP.

Education and Experience

  • B.A. in Logistics or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years previous supervisory experience in a Distribution or Manufacturing environment required.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems and Enterprise Operating Systems such as SAP or Oracle strongly desired.
