Role Summary                                                          

The Quality Engineer oversees quality systems implementation and functioning for consumer complaint investigations, product design, and manufacturing.  Works with Consumer Relations, Manufacturing (in-house and contract manufacturing) and Suppliers.  

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities   (Describe the 5-7 major accountabilities)                                                       

  • Facilitates problem-solving (root cause analysis and CAPA) based on quality issues and consumer complaint analyses and trending.  Helps drive CAPA and other investigations to closure (internally and at manufacturers).
  • Drives continuous improvement for C&D products/processes through application of quality tools, like FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analyses), problem solving, and manufacturing capability analyses.
  • Leads meetings in support of objectives.  Includes planning, agendas, and follow-up action plans.
  • Focuses on conformance to Church & Dwight requirements, including those in the Contract Manufacturer and Supplier Global Quality Manuals, as applicable. (Includes applicable ISO standards and FDA regulations)
  • Performs data analysis (trend analysis, Pivot tables, basic statistics).
  • May assemble qualification / validation protocols and review associated data generated with reports.
  • May audit a contractor or supplier and provide on-going support and monitoring.
  • Works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Global Mfg. Services, and R&D.  May also interface with Consumer Relations and Regulatory Affairs.

Education and Experience                                                          

  • BS/MS degree in related field (Quality Engineering certification desirable)
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience in the consumer products, medical device, and/or pharmaceutical industries
  • Experience working with R&D, manufacturing, contractors and suppliers beneficial.
