Controls Technician - Days 

Monday - Friday TBD 7:00am - 5:00pm  

The hourly wage for this position is $40.63 to $42.30. 

New Hire Sign On Bonus - $2,000

This highly visible position is located at our Vancouver and/or Ridgefield, WA facility. 

What you’ll do: 

This position will be responsible for managing process control systems for production equipment. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).  

  • Responsible at all times for ensuring that tasks are performed according to food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.    

  • Perform work on or supervise internal and external resources for PLCs and control systems on production equipment.   

  • Ensure repairs and installations of PLCs and control systems follow manufacturer’s specifications and codes and standards.   

  • Maintain back up programs for all equipment PLCs and control systems.  

  • Assist in design of line layouts, equipment placement and process flow.   

  • Recommend measures to improve Process control, equipment performance, and quality of equipment.   

  • Help ensure proper operation of all packaging equipment and systems.   

  • Assist in the maintenance of spare parts inventory and Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedule.   

  • Maintain service, repair, and other records as required.   

  • Work closely with and may assist Maintenance Technicians on packaging lines.   

  • Ensure the facility is safe and all hazards are fixed.   

  • Follow and assist in the enforcement of company policies to workers and safety and environment regulations as needed.   

  • Plan, organize, and control; train departmental peers; communication and coordination; work simplification; and complete and maintain records and documentation.  

  • Utilize understanding of packaging systems technology, plant layout and process flow, operation analysis, maintenance, and troubleshooting preventive maintenance to perform preventive maintenance techniques for equipment and control systems.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

What you’ll need: 

  • Associate degree, and/or equivalent combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job.  

  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in PLC installations, repairs, and maintenance.  

  • Experience working with PLCs and process control systems and AutoCAD is required. 

  • Strong knowledge of PLCs and process control systems.   

  • Skilled in the use of and ability to work in AutoCAD  

  • Ability to read, review, modify and create drawings.   

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley, Omron, and similar PLC programs.   

  • Knowledge of PLCs, Ladder Logic, and control systems.   

  • Knowledge in pneumatics, electrical, and mechanical systems.   

  • Ability to read and write schematics.   

  • Computer skills, Microsoft Office as well as ability to connect laptops to PLCs and or process controllers.   

  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out oral and written instructions.   

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers.   

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and learn new technologies.   

  • Ability to work during nights and weekends as required.   

  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork such as Preventative Maintenance Work Orders.   

  • Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.   

  • Ability to detect problems, repair, and report information to appropriate personnel.  

  • Ability to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance. 

  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clean room attire; perform moderate physical activity which requires standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day and up to twelve (12) hours per shift and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds; and perform work onsite in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic dust.
