Job Location: Hybrid (Ewing, NJ/Home Office)
Role Summary
The Sr. Manager, Corporate Accounting is responsible for various accounting/FP&A functions which include SG&A budgeting and analysis, deferred compensation analysis, fixed asset accounting, financial systems validation, and other general accounting responsibilities.
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Manage the budgeting, forecasting, analysis, internal reporting, and presentation of functional costs for SG&A.
Participate in the month-end close process, ensuring standard and ad-hoc journal entries are posted in a timely manner & within the appropriate accounting framework.
Enforce compliance within the team of key month-end controls surrounding journal entries and management review.
Preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations; championing account reconciliation standardization and action plans for aged items
Ownership of asset capitalization and depreciation. This includes supervision of a fixed asset accountant who works closely with the engineering and operations finance team to ensure reliability and accuracy of capital asset balances.
Responsible for the accounting for the deferred compensation plans
Review financial system checks and reconciliations and drive corrective actions as required.
Responsible for master data requests and maintenance within the financial reporting system
Participate in internal audit SOX testing and process documentation.
Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives to gain simplification and automation efficiencies in standard tasks.
Lead documentation of standard operating procedures and maintain a centralized repository for SOPs, process narratives, and controls.
Supervision of a team of 3.
Take on ad-hoc projects, as needed.
Education and Experience
BS degree in Accounting, Masters in Accounting preferred
CPA preferred
10+ years of accounting experience
3+ years of supervisory experience.
SAP experience preferred
Skills and Competencies
Previous internal accounting experience, specifically with account reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting
Needs to be able to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines in a timely manner.
Effective communication and presentation skills.
Experience with SAP ECC/S4 and Oracle EPM is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically intermediary or higher Excel skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data in a meaningful way and make recommendations.
Solid knowledge of US GAAP
Strategic thinker and problem solver who can apply analytic solutions to business problems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment.
Works at the detail level as well as possesses the ability to see the larger picture.
Highly motivated, results oriented individual that can manage multiple projects.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Previous experience in a SOX control environment is an asset.
Strong collaborator and team player.
Passionate about driving change within the organization.
Ability to influence across multiple functions and levels to achieve alignment with internal controls; Willingness to “have an opinion” backed up by insight and the confidence to influence key stakeholders.
