Are you an experienced Controls/Automation Engineer searching for a new exciting challenge? Do you have extensive experience in control systems in an automated FMCG environment?

If the answer is yes- then look no further, Church & Dwight UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Controls and Automation Specialist to join our team on a permanent basis.

Based at our manufacturing site in Folkestone, Kent, this role is responsible for driving improved performance of our manufacturing lines using enhanced controls and the latest automation.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • To execute process and control improvements and prioritize all work in line with plant needs and production availability.

  • To complete regular backups of control systems and routine maintenance of systems.

  • To ensure that Health and Safety and Quality procedures are followed, ensuring that standards are maintained i.e. work in a tidy, clean, safe, structured and professional

  • manner.

  • To comply with all Corporate, Health and Safety and Environmental rules, standards and legislation ATEX, COSHH,etc.

  • To be active in supporting the achievement of corporate strategies and departmental targets.

Training and Developing Others:

  • To assist in the training of others in site control and process systems. Siemens TIA Portal E&H etc.

  • To assist in the training of site personal in any improvements to systems and documentation of upgrades.

Communication:

  • To ensure Engineering Supervisor, Packaging Managers and Engineers on shift are up-dated on latest developments / situations and any other relevant information on a regular basis.

  • To update and use current systems (Poka, MES) to analyze issues and work with shift engineers to resolve.

  • To provide all other engineers with an understanding of faults found and steps taken to ensure that they do not recur.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Controls/Automation engineer, with a background in FMCG manufacturing.

Technical:

  • Extensive experience of working in an automated FMCG environment.

  • Extensive experience of working with processing and packaging machinery.

  • Extensive experience in control systems (Siemens, E&H etc).

  • Mechanical qualification City & Guilds or NVQ L3 equivalent.

  • Electrical qualification City & Guilds or NVQ L3 equivalent.

  • Detailed experience of carrying out reactive, planned, preventative and predictive maintenance.

  • Working knowledge of leading continuous improvement and SMED projects.

  • Knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).

Professional:

  • Can do approach to problems.

  • Ability to work independently and manage self and time.

  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of staff and contractors within the business.

  • Works well as part of a team.

  • Detailed problem-solving abilities and experience of formal problem-solving techniques, Kaizen etc.

  • Basic Lean Six Sigma qualifications is ideal (yellow or green belt).

This role works a Monday to Friday day-time shift pattern, with some weekend/night working required based on workload/projects.
