Engineering Technician, VMS Manufacturing - Days 

Monday - Friday TBD 7:00am - 5:00pm  

The hourly wage for this position is $40.64 to $42.32. 

Sign On Bonus - $2,000

This highly visible position is located at our Vancouver and/or Ridgefield, WA facility. 

What you’ll do: 

This position will be responsible for assisting in the development and sustainment of manufacturing methods, processes, and equipment to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 

  • Responsible at all times for ensuring that tasks are performed according to food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.  

  • Support operations, maintenance, and engineering on specialized tasks and projects.  

  • Assist engineering staff in solving technical problems, validating equipment/processes, conducting experiments, collecting data and interpreting test results.  

  • Plan, schedule, and lead projects to install, repair, or modify equipment.   

  • Coordinate with service contractors to quote, schedule, and complete specified work.  

  • Evaluate and improve performance and efficiency of existing manufacturing processes. 

  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis through 5-Whys, Cause & Effect (C&E), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for equipment and supporting systems.  

  • Help define preventive maintenance requirements and plans to improve equipment reliability.  

  • Use specialized equipment to perform condition-based monitoring (predictive maintenance) using thermography, ultrasonic/acoustic, power monitoring, vibration analysis, etc.  

  • Evaluate trends in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and develop/test ideas to improve it.  

  • Create engineering change requests as necessary to document changes to process or equipment.  

  • Document Standard Work, work instructions, flow-charts, and troubleshooting procedures.  

  • Generate and update procedures for startup, operation, shut-down, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of all equipment.  

  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned. 

What you’ll need: 

  • Associate of Science Degree in technical field. 

  • Five (5) years of experience in a related industry or ten plus (10+) years of experience working in a technical position.  

  • Leadership and project management experience is required.  

  • High energy, self-starter with the ability to influence others.  

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.  

  • Experience with standard computer software including MS Office Suite  

  • Capable of reading detailed blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs  

  • Familiar with PLCs and machine control logic.  

  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methods preferred.  

  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clean room attire; perform moderate physical activity which requires standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day and up to twelve (12) hours per shift and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds; and perform work onsite in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic dust.
