Role Summary                                                          

Driven, self-starting technician able to work with minimal instruction to set up new equipment and processes.   Works with other Engineers and Technicians in various Laboratory, Pilot Plant, or Production activities, but able to work independently.  Strong mechanical, electrical, and / or control aptitude and ability. 

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities   (Describe the 5-7 major accountabilities)                                                       

  • With minimal supervision, set up and perform experiments for consumer products focusing on process and packaging.  Lead manufacturing innovation and/or laboratory innovation. 
  • Conduct research, prepare batches, make observations and test independently, or as directed by Supervisor(s), in areas of specialized experience.  Keep permanent, complete records of all laboratory work done.
  • Assist in daily pilot plant operations and scheduling.
  • Lead interactions with other departments, vendors, equipment professionals, and plant personnel.
  • Serve as satellite facility logistics coordinator.  This includes incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining chemical/consumables supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities and warehouse as assigned, including instruments, equipment, and supplies.  Assists in preparation and testing of new or established products as assigned by supervisor(s).

Education and Experience                                                           

High School or Technical School Diploma with at least 10 years of relevant Plant, Pilot Plant, Compounding, Maintenance, or Controls Experience

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong Mechanical aptitude of equipment and processes used in industry and manufacturing of consumer products.
  • Ability to develop, organize and prioritize tasks within assigned projects
  • Able to work independently to complete assigned instruction.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good Mechanical Aptitude
  • Displays Leadership Skills
  • Trained in Laboratory and Chemical GMPs, cGMPS, and Safety Awareness.
  • Able to lift 40lbs for batching capability
  • Forklift certification is strongly preferred.
