Overview:

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Research Chemist located at our Princeton, NJ location.

The Research Chemist will execute product development activities under the supervision of an R&D Manager in a manner consistent with the C&D R&D Core Principles of teamwork, consumer and customer focus, personal responsibility and integrity, and ethical behavior and practices.

Responsibilities:

• Develop laboratory samples and product prototypes to meet project design parameters
• Identify and/or develop methods and conduct tests to evaluate products or prototypes against established goals
• Record and analyze data; draw conclusions and make recommendations for next steps 
• Recommend experimental designs for prototypes and test methods
• Evaluate new technologies for use in products/prototypes

• Initiate product, raw material, and test method specifications.

• Identify potential new product concepts and trending consumer needs. 

• Interact on project teams within R&D (Packaging, Processing, Consumer Insights, Consumer Relations) and with outside suppliers and vendors

• Participate in cross-functional meetings to contribute in the development process; provide technical input; provide input to the status of deliverables and project timelines; review status of projects in portfolio.

• Create, update, and maintain electronic claim substantiation files. 

Education and Experience                                                          

The successful candidate will have a B.S. degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Biochemistry, Biology or related disciplines, with 5+ years of laboratory experience. 

Skills and Competencies:

• Good laboratory experimental execution, data recording and safety practices 
• Ability to work independently on multiple, concurrent assigned projects with periodic direct supervision
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
