Role Summary                                                          

The Director is responsible for driving efforts associated with Demand and Supply Planning, along with Finished Goods inventory Management of $200MM for the Domestic business.  The individual will make business decisions that balance service levels, working capital investments and total delivered costs.  The role is required to manage the team’s business processes, ability to achieve key performance indicators, and drive process improvements. Driving an effective Sales and Operations Planning process is a critical job function that includes interactions across all levels of the organization to drive results.  The individual will work with internal groups to successfully implement supply chain initiatives and promote best practices within their team, along with providing support to select Global Supply Chain initiatives.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities   (Describe the 5-7 major accountabilities)                                                        

  • Manage the Team and activities associated with Supply Planning including the following:
    • Drive the creation of weekly supply plans to drive deployment of inventory and prioritization of production quantities across the network.
    • Lead the development of finished goods working capital budgets and forecasts
    • Usage of KPIs to ensure supply plans supporting attainment of case fill performance targets, working capital targets, total delivered costs and attainment of financial objectives
    • Develop working relationships with cross functional supply chain teams
  • Manage the Team and activities associated with Demand Planning including the following:
    • Develop budgets for warehousing requirements
    • Provide oversight to 3PL’s including monitoring of KPI’s and compliance to budgets
    • Develop and monitor work processes and KPI’s across both internally and externally managed warehouses consistent with OTIF objectives, financial performance, safety, quality and compliance
    • Collaborate with Plant Management on site specific initiative for internally owned and managed warehousing
    • Ensure inventory accuracy with cycle count protocols and inventory management practices
  • Lead Sales and Operations Planning processes, including the following:
    • Adequacy of cost effective space availability in support of growth objectives for both seasonality of shipping patterns and long term growth
    • Management of a carrier strategy and bid process to ensure effective balance of cost and service
    • Collaborate with the Canadian Logistics Team to share best practice and optimize the overall NA distribution network
    • Lead to the conceptualization of projects that drive continuous improvement
    • Drive Lean principles throughout the Logistics function
  • Attract, develop and retain talent to ensure a high performing organization and employee engagement for the Supply Chain Planning function.
  • Build upon advanced knowledge and experience in Supply Chain Planning systems to ensure delivery of KPI’s associated with case fill, working capital and total delivered cost and to identify process improvements.  Provide leadership to develop and maintain a progressive technology roadmap working in close collaboration with IT business partners.  Responsible for leading strategy development and provide oversight to implementation projects.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to drive projects to improve business performance and promote the use of best practices both Domestically and Internationally.  Develop and complete projects as defined by customer or senior management. Direct transition of project work to everyday business practice, project outcomes, and communicate results.
  • Effectively maintain strong relationships and communicate with cross functional teams.  This includes both internal Supply Chain functional engagement, as well as with Commercial functions.  Able to strategically influence others to act. Works well independently and as a team member.
  • Delegate appropriately to others and makes significant contributions to the formulation of planning and departmental strategies. Uses exception management techniques to prioritize the successful completion of critical tasks. Successfully demonstrate business discretion, problem solving, and creative thinking.

Education and Experience                                                           

  • BS/BA Degree Required – focus in Supply Chain preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience within the Supply Chain and Logistics environment (working within planning, customer logistics, analytics, and systems)
  • APICS or another supply chain professional certification preferred

Skills and Competencies

  • The successful candidate needs to be well organized, able to handle multiple priorities, and high volume of data in a fast paced and team oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required, both oral and written, and the ability to communicate effectively to all levels within organization
  • Strong analytical and MS Office skills required
  • Management experience, organizational influence, and problem solving
