Role Summary                                                          

Lead in the development and implementation of new domestic and global packaging projects for all Waterpik products.  Communicating and meeting product and project costs and completing the project on schedule defines success.  Manages the packaging team while overseeing projects and work streams. 

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities               

  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership to interdepartmental teams in achieving project goals.  Use a proactive, positive and leadership style that is consistent with the Company mission and philosophy.  Be a passionate advocate of the cross-functional team approach to rapid product development, apply concurrent engineering principles, assess and manage project and product risks and prepare contingency plans as required.
  • Coordinates selection of a multi-discipline, cross-functional project team (Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Customer Service, Suppliers, etc.) with functional managers and the appropriate Project Manager.  Ensure that the appropriate resources are identified and committed to the project to ensure its success.
  • Responsible for identifying and managing all cross-functional deliverables associated with the definition, development, and introduction of successful new packaging projects.  Identify and manage extended resources (including identification, selection, and management of out sourced resources) required to support the project deliverables.
  • Maintains effective communication with all cross functional stakeholders.  This would include business updates, preparation, and presentation of business plans and escalate project concerns. 
  • Forecasts, plans, and controls internal and external resources (financial costs, people, assets, consultants, etc.) to achieve required project objectives.  Forecast, plan, and control the baseline project metrics of project schedule, budget, performance and cost.
  • Plans and executes programs to ensure that our present and future domestic and global packaging will be competitive. Examines the cost of packaging and processes with a goal of increasing quality and reducing overall costs through innovative development programs.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of input and documentation of set-ups, attributes, and data changes in the Oracle software system.
  • Manage assignment of Engineering Change Order (ECO) that release new or modify existing engineering product drawings and bills of materials as well as Finished Good bills of materials.
  • Manage quotes from domestic and global suppliers for new packages or changes to existing packages.
  • Responsible for following quality system procedures.  Assists in procedure development when required.  Ensures product quality and take appropriate action when non-conformances are identified.  Keeps accurate records as required.

Operating Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities                                                       

  • Project management, including financial and technical evaluations
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of design for quality, manufacturing and assembly techniques.
  • Oracle experience preferred

Education and Experience                                                          

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years of product development experience and demonstrated design capability is required.
  • Demonstrated project leadership.


Supervisory Duties: Supervises Packaging team, both domestic and China.

Estimated pay:  $108,000 - $141,800 Annual Salary.
