Role Summary                                                          

Provides financial and strategic leadership to VP’s of Sales and Customer Business Teams to optimize business results and return on investment, through Customer Profitability Management, Cost-to-Serve & Total Customer Investment Modeling, trade efficiency & optimization, opportunistic revenue growth and gross margin expansion.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities  

  • Key member of the VP Sales Positions leadership teams (i.e. Food, Non-Food and Walmart) providing financial insights on business results and key strategic initiatives, execution of annual operating plan, and organizational structure.  Partner to develop financial strategies and objectives to optimize business performance to achieve annual objectives.
  • Provides financial leadership to field sales organization through Cost-to-Serve & Total Customer Investment modeling, total P&L management, providing business analytics and insights to drive incremental profitable revenue growth opportunities and ensuring efficient trade spend and optimal ROI.
  • Establish annual quotas by partnering with HQ Customer Strategic Planning Team and key constituents using the Trade Investment/Customer Segmentation models to establish annual quotas for sales, trade spend and profit to achieve the Annual Operating Plan. 
  • Identifies and drives trade spending changes to budget/forecast by uncovering opportunities and risks to annual/quarterly customer trade plans through Quarterly Customer Plan Reviews.
  • Liaise with key business partners leveraging Sequoya Analytics to drive Trade Promotion Optimization on Pre/Post Promotion Analysis for improved trade efficiency and ROI.
  • Collaborate with key business partner i.e. VP of Sales – Food, Non-Food and Walmart conducting monthly and quarterly volume consensus projections, shipment versus consumptions analysis focused on assessing inventory trends and identifying potential markdown risks or action plans to accelerate in-store inventory pull-through.
  • Assess and partner with key constituents to develop annual slotting, brokerage, SG&A budgets focus on driving benefit realization and budget savings.
  • Partners with leadership and brokers to develop and implement key Retail & Trade KPI metrics/scorecard to drive performance management.
  • Develop and implement performance tracking reports for quarterly/annual Agency Sales & Marketing commissions and incentive targets.
  • Acts as Sales Finance lead on cross-functional teams to drive successful implementation of key strategic initiatives i.e. acquisitions due diligence, productivity, go-to-market strategy & retail execution and pricing strategies align with MAP Policy and Brand strategies.
  • Creates an environment that encourages information sharing, team-based resolutions, cross-functional collaboration and process improvement/simplification to ensure superior execution.
  • Laisse with the Canadian Sales and Finance Organizations regarding opportunistic sales initiatives, trade promotion effectiveness & fund management leveraging advance analytics and Cost to Serve & Total Customer Investment model.
  • Responsible for personnel management within the group; provides coaching and ensures that performance management and career development activities are completed.
  • Own Audit Key Controls with regards to Trade Fund Management and Check Book Spending

Education and Experience                                                          

  • BS degree from an accredited institution in Finance or Accounting (MBA preferred). 
  • 7 years of experience in the CPG or adjacent industry with demonstrated proficiency of managing P&L issues and interaction with a diversified customer base.
  • 2 years of experience in a management level role with staff supervision responsibility; 4 years preferred.
  • 3 years Sales Finance experience
  • Knowledge of SAP and Siebel are a plus; experience with TPO/TPM tools mandatory.

Skills and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of MS Office with strong Excel skills and Power Point
  • Ability to work with complex concepts, analyze data, draw conclusions, make recommendations while using judgment, experience and industry knowledge
  • Ability to show initiative and make impactful decisions with little to no supervision
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build business partnerships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial assessments  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
  • Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures 
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, strong communication skills
