Role Summary                                             

  • The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for effectively leading the projects (Commercial and Sustaining) they are assigned to, working with the multi-functional team to plan, track and manage each deliverable for a successful execution.

  • They will work closely with Project Management leadership to get the support needed for successful execution throughout the project life cycle . 

  • The Assistant Project Manager may also provide administrative support to a Project Manager as required.

  • This individual may also provide support on PMO process/system improvements.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities                                                        

  • Utilize PM tools to ensure appropriate key project documentation is completed throughout the project lifecycle (charter, design input/output form, financial templates, change control, etc.

  • Utilize the PM tools to prepare, track, and report on the project plan/status – get management approval

  • Create timelines for each project and drive deliverables to due dates to meet ship timing

  • Identify project resource needs & work with PM leadership to ensure projects are properly supported

  • Lead weekly multi-functional team meetings to address issues, discuss status updates and action items -clearly communicate agenda, action items and status of projects

  • Work with multi-functional team to analyze risk and identify contingency plans.  Review contingency plans with PM leadership

  • Conduct Lessons Learned and report out key findings

  • Keep leadership informed of progress and issues.

  • Involve functional expertise in design reviews and key decisions. Pull together the right information to help drive key project decisions  

  • Identify and raise potential conflicts within the project.  Report issues to PM leadership to help resolve and remove barriers

Education and Experience                                                          

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited institution preferred.  At least 2 years of college education required

  • 2+ years CPG industry experience (R&D, Marketing, Manufacturing)

Skills and Competencies

  • Action Oriented

  • Team leadership

  • Proficient at problem solving

  • Able to work collaboratively with diverse work groups

  • Effective written and oral communication – be able to communicate with different levels of the organization

  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel Spreadsheets, Word, etc.)
