Are you an experienced Senior Process Engineer with knowledge of the manufacturing of medical devices and personal care consumer products? Do you have experience of automated and manual production from a chemical engineering perspective?

If the answer is yes - then look no further. Church & Dwight UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to join our R&D team based in Folkestone, Kent.

This role is responsible for leading the Process Engineering team at our manufacturing site, working across a diverse portfolio of medical devices and personal care consumer products. They will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to continuously challenge ways of working to improve efficiencies and add value.

This role has five key areas:

New Product Development

  • Leading process engineering for the development of innovative new products on pilot and industrial scale, leads industrial trails assuring that protocols are communicated and understood by factory staff.

  • Validating, in cooperation with Quality Engineering and Health and Safety, new industrial process equipment to GMP standards and issue protocols in preparation for validation trials.

Method of Manufacture

  • Assuring that methods of manufacture are well defined and validates, develops programs to ensure manufacturing systems are in control and capable of meeting specification and assists local QC on identifying process control points.

  • Issuing documents to communicate methods of manufacture and reporting on the outcome of industrial trials, providing relevant information for the assembly of technical dossiers.

Continuous Improvement

  • Supporting plant quality programs focused on continuous improvement of existing industrial processes, and resolution of quality issues related to product manufacture.

  • Reviewing state of the art manufacturing equipment and making recommendations for improvement to operations, assembling necessary schematic diagrams, providing feasibility and capital cost analyses for new equipment.

  • Leading cost improvement projects related to methods of manufacture and providing engineering expertise for all cost reduction programs.

Third Party Manufacturer

  • Assisting in establishing Company’s quality oversight at contract manufactures.

  • Ensuring Third Party manufacturers produce product to agreed quality standards.

  • Ensuring that the manufacturing processes for products manufactured at contract suppliers are robust and capable.

Other responsibilities

  • Participating in external trade organisations to ensure the company stays informed of potential legislative or regulatory changes that could impact current and future manufacturing operations.

  • Maintaining close cooperation with Development Chemists, Quality Assurance/Auditing, Third Party Manufacturers, Supply Management and Production staff.

  • Responsibility for the pilot plant and equipment, maintaining high level standards and ensuring the team is trained.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Process Engineer from a comparable industry. They will also have/be:

  • A University degree in Chemical Engineering and able to demonstrate considerable experience of working in a relevant manufacturing environment.

  • Significant experience with the manufacturing of medical devices and personal care consumer products.

    • Tubes and liquid filling experience are essential.

    • Aerosol design and manufacturing experience would be desirable but not essential.

  • Automated and manual production experience required.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ownership mentality, with strong results orientation.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma principles, experience with process validation principles and GMP regulations are an advantage.

  • Demonstrated the ability to exercise sound judgement, managing multiple projects, work cross-functionally, and delivering against company business goals and objectives.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.
