We have an exciting opportunity for quality staff at our Ridgefield, Washington packaging and distribution center! The Quality Control Floor Staff (QCFS) Packaging positions perform specialized and routine production inspection activities according to established requirements.

This job opening is available on our 3rd shift, which works Friday through Sunday and every other Thursday from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The base rate for this position is $15.60 per hour plus 3rd Shift receives a $0.50 shift differential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), company policies, safety policies and practices, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Provides assistance for all questions regarding quality defects.
  • Audits all areas for quality and GMP conformance.
  • Ensures batch documentation is filled out according to requirements.
  • Updates and completes documentation and logs as required, including observation reports.
  • Photocopies, sorts, and/or files documents or reports as requested.
  • Records information, manually or electronically, and files documentation for applicable quality records.
  • Informs Quality Control (QC) Shift Lead or Manager on all personnel issues.
  • Identifies and implements improvements to the QC procedures as needed.
  • Performs the following according to exact established procedures:
    • Equipment checks
    • Weight checks
    • Facility sanitation
    • Packaging quality
    • Lot and Code dates
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of production equipment (processing and packaging equipment) and its related impact on overall quality.
  • Identifies urgent quality situations, assesses the nature of the problem then contains, resolves, or recommends action quickly.
  • Ensures all personnel in the clean rooms and production areas are wearing the proper attire.
  • Ensures proper cleaning is performed prior to next production run.
  • Ensures the line clearance inspection is performed and documented before each production run and inspects the production area to ensure that all components from previous run are removed before another production run is started.
  • Checks the Equipment Use Log to ensure it is correctly and completely filled out before each production run.
  • Verifies the packaging and bulk materials match the Work Order, Bill of Materials (BOM), and actual kit.
  • Stops the lines immediately if a discrepancy is found, contacts the QC Shift Lead or Manager, and helps to perform an investigation.
  • Pulls quality samples, in a sanitary manner, at all applicable production steps which includes but is not limited to finished product reserve samples for lab testing and retention.
  • Ensures the correct label is being used per the BOM and the lot number as well as expiration date are printed on the labels correctly.
  • Verifies quantities, weights, seal adherence, bottle type, cap size and color, carton, and all other materials adhere to specifications.
  • Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma, GED and/or any equivalent combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job. Previous Quality Control experience in an FDA regulated industry preferred.

  • Ability to analyze complex quality system requirements and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative documentation.
  • Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to detect quality problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts rather than opinions.
  • Ability to comply with standards and procedures.
  • Good understanding of 21 CFR 111 GMP for Dietary Supplements and NSF –ANSI 173.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; stand and/or walk more than four to six (4-6) hours and up to twelve (12) hours per day; and work onsite in a light industrial environment, including some exposure to non-toxic dust.
  • Ability to maintain punctuality and predictable attendance.
